As discussed widely on our social and indeed on this blog.. Black Friday was pretty hellish for us all at Missoma. Jumping from Black Friday in to Christmas and then straight in to January Sales, it leaves little time for respite for anyone in retail / ecom. So when our given the chance for some R&R in Bali I jumped at the chance. (I being me.. Kate, Missoma's Marketing Manager). A self confessed workoholic.. I needed to unwind and take it SLOW for a while.
ENTER Slow Villas, the 'Luxury Private Villas for Happy People' aka a little piece tranquil heaven.
A boat ride from the island of Bali, Slow sits in the centre of Gili Air. It is 'a concept, based on the slow spirit (slow cooking, slow moving, slow stretching), a unique way to get back sense of the essential value of life' and boy did we embrace it.
I was in Bali with friend and Missoma Muse Emma Hoareau of Lolita Says So, a beauty and lifestyle blog which Emma has kept since our early days at Leeds University together. Being photographers and content creators alike.. we were hard pressed to put our cameras down. And within the bamboo walls of of our little Slow retreat we snapped away.. of course taking advantage of the amazing light to shoot some Missoma.
Our Slow Villa was so tranquil that on our first night, with the rain thundering down outside (yes it was rainy season) we sat on our bed and read until we passed out.. which was c. 7pm... sleeping a solid 12 hours we were so refreshed in the morning, we walked our way around the island. Island life has never appealed to me so much.. If you have been to Bali and its surrounding islands, you will know what I'm talking about when i say how friendly and kind the people are. Coming from London especialy where you're hard pressed for a smile on the tube.. when we got off the boat at Gili Air it was terrential rain and every single person was laughing and joking and playing. The stresses of London were a distant memory.
